Pictou Island was included in the national Community Access Program (C@P), initiated in the early 2000s. PICA agreed to provide the space for the computer setup in our community centre and we have enjoyed the benefits of this facility in the ensuing years. The C@P program has helped us to improve our solar power system with the purchase of panels and batteries. We have two computers, a printer/fax/copy machine, and a digital camera.
For 10 weeks in the summer, we are provided with funding for a student employee. During this time the C@P site is open to the public ( hours are listed below). We hope to provide outside access to the high-speed satellite internet system during the off-hours this summer. The summer student will be available to the community to print notices, make posters, and other computer tasks. Any events or programs that will be put on by the C@P program will be listed in the Events section of this web-site.
The C@P Site will be open...
Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9:30am to 4:30pm
Friday and Saturday from 9:30am to 12:30pm, and 3:00pm to 7:00pm
