Pictou Island residents officially presented members of the Northumberland Fisheries Museum board with an authentic ice boat built in the 1940s and used for winter transport for many years between the island and the mainland. The museum will display the boat in the new pavilion that represents a future phase of construction beside the current lobster hatchery and lighthouse on Pictou's waterfront. From the left are board members Eric Scanlan, Alta Munroe and Bill Henderson, along with Gretchen Maguire, who was among those who hosted the meal that preceded the handling over of the boat. POTLUCK DONATION 2010
On July 24 2010 after a very successful community "work
party" on the island, we had a Pot Luck supper and raised $475.00.
Each
summer we donate the proceeds of the supper to a charity on the mainland. At a
recent PICA meeting, it was decided to give the
money this year to The Friends
of Red Tail in Scotsburn, Nova Scotia. To find our more about this charity,
